I started the newsletter for Fun Italian Journey in 2022.
I started the newsletter for Fun Italian Journey in 2022.
During the years, I was first sharing monthly, and then weekly, some studying, learning, and motivational tips about things that I had personally experienced as a language student myself, as well as insights I gained by analysing my students’ learning difficulties and victories.
During the years, I was first sharing monthly, and then weekly, some studying, learning, and motivational tips about things that I had personally experienced as a language student myself, as well as insights I gained by analysing my students’ learning difficulties and victories.
Although I was quite happy with the message I was sharing through the emails, I wasn’t completely satisfied. Until, in 2024, I found the format that gave me complete freedom for my creativity.

I chose three main themes:

- Italian content creators (monthly frequency)
- Motivational, learning, and studying tips (monthly frequency)
- Language and cultural aspects (every two weeks)
With the Italian content creators, I introduced creators who were famous for a particular topic such as books, movies, sport, etc. The goal was to provide extra listening input (in different accents) and to share a short Italian glossary to help readers familiarise themselves with the topic of the creator of the month.

Both the creators’ section and the tips section gave me plenty of space for creativity. However, what boosted it even more was the creation of Emily, a character representing an English girl studying Italian who decided to move to Italy.

Emily and the storytelling around her helped me deliver language and cultural content in an engaging way. I wanted the reader to identify with Emily and the language difficulties she was experiencing in Italy, and to see what she was learning from them.
